Watercolor Heart Quilt — Beginner Friendly

Class Description

Two or three classes depending upon students’ quilting experience. Purchase of Dina Pappas’ book, Quick Watercolor Quilts is recommended. (See the link to the left.)

If you like puzzles, you’ll love this class! We’ll take lovely floral fabric(s) with lots of “edge,” cut it up into 2” squares, and reassemble the squares into a floral heart wallhanging.

In the first class, we’ll cut our fabric(s) into strips, then squares. We’ll sort those squares according to their design content, and then fuse our puzzle pieces into a floral heart shape. No sewing machine for first class.

In the second class, we’ll fold, stitch and clip our fused puzzle into a quilt top. The addition and color of borders and how many will be decided.

The third class shows how to add narrow border inserts as well as mitered outer border frame. Quilting methods are discussed as machine quilting is preferred for this fused wallhanging.

Michele offers a free-motion machine quilt class, which is the perfect finish for this wallhanging.
